Just Pictures

Some pictures of our progress on the floor.

The first boxes of flooring arrive.

Christy helps haul them inside. They weigh 55 pounds each.

There were 61 boxes total. We loaded up Seann's truck and Christy's SUV and still had to make a second trip.

We opened a bunch of boxes to get them acclimating before putting them down. Isn't it pretty?

Underlayment. This is the first of ten rolls. We keep track of our progress based on how many rolls we've used. We're about 35% of the way through!

The first section. This is our hallway and the first part of our bedroom.

Charlie thought the underlayment was a huge improvement over the plywood.

The first board goes in beautifully. The whole first row had to be hand nailed. It took a long time but went in really well. Our walls were surprisingly straight.

Oscar gives the floor two paws up.

The first section complete (looking from the other direction). The lighting isn't great and it looks a little yellow than it actually is.

Steve came over and helped on Sunday. He worked on the closet in our bedroom.

We have three stairs that lead up to the main level. This is where the stairs meet the hallway. Seann did an awesome job mitering the corner. These boards have a rounded over edge called stairnose. Eventually all the stairs will have this too. Eventually.

The first successful flush vent! This was quite a learning experience. It turned out perfectly. Seann is a rockstar.

The first row in the living room. We have since filled in one more row of underlayment, so three more feet.

Me working the floor nailer. I was nervous at first but it is actually pretty easy. Seann could work on hand nailing the pieces by the stairs while I filled in the living room. Pretty efficient team.

At this point our bedroom is almost complete with just about half the closet and one more row by the windows to complete. The hallway is done and about 6 feet deep in the living room. We'll probably get another 3 feet done tonight. It's a marathon project but so worth it. We both love it. Only problem now is that the mornings are a bit chilly and we don't have rugs down. Makes for some cold toes first thing getting out of bed!
