Maggie Rocks

At the end of last month I was once again in Seattle. Maggie had written a play and it was being performed at The Richard Hugo House. This seemed like a pretty big deal to me. I knew Maggie was excited and probably a bit nervous. But Jess and I had just been to Seattle a few weeks prior and it was unlikely I'd be able to make it again. Or so I let her believe.

In actuality I emailed Mary Jane and asked if she'd be interested in a quick jaunt up Interstate 5 with Seann & I. We decided to keep it a complete surprise from Maggie but let Todd in on our intentions. He helped us keep it nice and quiet. Mary Jane even told Maggie how sorry she was that she couldn't make it.

It turned out that the weekend we chose to visit was the same weekend that Maggie's parents and Todd's mom and sister were also visiting and seeing the show. Todd arranged for the whole crowd to meet up at a little pizza place where Maggie's parents had gone many times when they were students in Seattle. Mary Jane, Seann & I decided to beat them to the restaurant where we would just be sitting at a table when Maggie arrived.

Waiting in the restaurant to surprise Maggie

The timing could not have been more perfect. We arrived about 5 minutes before Maggie. We tucked ourselves at the end of a long table, hidden from immediate view. The look on Maggie's face when she saw us was pure gold. She was totally surprised. Yay!

Maggie's sister, Allison.

That evening we headed out to see her show, Kindred Spirits. We loved it! And apparently I have a fairly distinctive laugh. Maggie could always tell when I was laughing even though we were on opposite sides of the theatre. What can I say? It was a ton of fun and I am so glad we went. I'm looking forward to the next show!

The next morning we met up with Maggie for breakfast before heading back to Portland. While waiting to be seated we ran into this guy and had to take a picture!

Awesome
I love my friends.
