Seattle!

Several months ago I found out that U2 was going to be playing a concert in Seattle this summer. What a great excuse to head up to Seattle to see Maggie! And hey, while we're at it, we could recreate our Pop tour experience and Jesse, Maggie and I could all go together. What a great idea Megan!

So plans were made, flights were booked, car brakes were replaced. And then Bono had to go and have back surgery. Concert canceled. Sad for us but we decided the plan must go on! We'd already gotten the time off work and we still wanted to see each other (duh!).

Off Jesse and I went to Seattle.

The Car Picture. It's a tradition.

It's a relatively quick drive from Portland and very little traffic on a Saturday. It did, however, rain. And rain. And rain. In late June. I realize I live in the Pacific Northwest. I realize this area is known for the amount of rain we get each year. Still. It does not usually rain this much this late in the year.

A cool looking bridge Jesse liked.

Seattle! First shot on the drive in. One of those is actually where the concert would have been--I think the one on the right.

In the end, the rain was probably a good thing. Had it been a gorgeous day we probably would have lamented the canceled concert more. But seeing as the venue is open air, the rain actually made us grateful the concert was canceled. In retribution it will probably be record high temperatures on the day the concert is rescheduled. Such is life.

We met up with Maggie and Todd for a lovely weekend.

They have a really cool apartment in an old building. It is more decorated than the house I've been living in for three years. I'm jealous. We went to see Cirque du Soleil (this was the second time I had seen this show but this time they had a couple of contortionists--fascinating!) and ate at a bunch of yummy local restaurants. Maggie's place is in a perfect part of town (Capitol Hill) where you can pretty much walk anywhere (which is good since parking is scarce). Todd made fun of me for getting excited about the dance steps in the sidewalk. Maggie took Jess and I to a touristy spot to pictures with the Space Needle in the background. It was a really great time.

Totally reminds me of linking cubes

The best part of the weekend, though, was getting to hang out with my friends. At this point, being scattered as we are, we tend to get together only for weddings and things like that. So it was really nice to be in a place where we could just hang out with no pressure or dress code. It was definitely an overdue visit.
