A little scrapbooking project

I recently started reading Ali Edwards' blog again. She is so creative and has a ton of really good ideas about scrapbooking. Over the years my approach to scrapbooking has changed. This year I am trying out Becky Higgins' Project Life. It is a great snapshot of every week and so far I am really enjoying it. It's hard to pick just one or two photos from events (like Hajer's baby shower or Caitlin's birthday) but I really like the idea that this is just a peek and not the whole story. Here's a peek at Ali Edwards' Project Life.

Another little project I just finished was doing a quick collage of all the Christmas cards we received this year. This was something I got from Ali's site and it seemed like a great way to save the cards without saving the cards. I always keep my Christmas cards until I find them later and think, why do I still have these? But I hate the idea of tossing them. So this year I took each card and cut out a three inch section of the card and pasted it onto a 12x12 layout. I tried to pick interesting parts of the cards but didn't worry too much if I couldn't get it all in. It was difficult on some of the cards that are pictures to get in all the faces--schooch together next year! I love the representation. It really shows off all the varied styles of cards and personalities. I will probably add a little bit more to the pages to indicate these cards were from 2009, but here is a shot of the basic layout.

I'm excited to try out more ideas this year and will hopefully be sharing more as I finish some new projects.

very cute idea with the christmas cards. Another idea to recycle them is to use them as gift tags...same idea of cutting a section from them and punching a hole in them....
