Sorry guys, I'm just not going to catch up.
Turns out that blogging everyday is a wee bit difficult. Not only because blogging itself can be time consuming, but also because I don't lead an exciting enough life to post something every day!
The last two weeks have been wonderful. I worked at Target until the 22nd and then have been on a real vacation until today. The first part of Christmas week was hectic--cooking and wrapping and packing and shipping. But once the boxes were gone everything slowed down. Seann and I had a wonderful Christmas morning, opening presents in our pjs and then we headed to the movie theater to watch Sherlock Holmes. Turns out that a lot of people decided to watch Sherlock Holmes and so we ended up in the first few rows. That's a little close. But the movie was fun so I didn't care too much. After the movie we headed over to Ginger's house to hang out and be merry. It's always nice to visit with friends and eat yummy food and talk and not be at work.
Since Seann's company had a holiday shutdown we were able to enjoy alarm-free mornings and lazy days. I had a bit of a cold that decided to hunker down in my throat and chest but didn't make me achy and grumpy. I got to catch up on some sleep and got some cleaning done in my office--turns out, I have a desk! And I have been spending lots of time sewing. I got a great new quilting book (thanks Mom!) with lots of new patterns. Seann and I headed straight to the quilt shop to pick out fabric. I can't wait to get started!
I even got in a little bit of yardwork! Seann trimmed one of our trees while I planted some bulbs in the front. And the very next day it snowed. At first it looked like it was going to be a ten minute barely dropping kind of snow. But all of a sudden it turned into a downpour--can you call it a downpour when it's snow? Within an hour there was an even layer over the streets that was actually sticking. We had planned on going shopping that day but thank goodness we didn't! We ventured as far as the vet for some doggy toothpaste and then hunkered down inside where it was warm and dry. By the end of the evening we probably had a good 4-5 inches on the ground! Alas, anything that hadn't yet melted was washed away by the deluge of rain that came two days later. While not a White Christmas, it was still fun to get snow. Oscar liked it. Charlie isn't a huge fan.
We got to enjoy a second Christmas today when we received another box in the mail. Included was another new quilting book (thanks Tamar!) on Celtic quilts. I was instantly intrigued. It looks to be quite a challenge but I am excited to try some new techniques. I may not come out of the sewing room until spring!
So if you don't hear from me, you'll know where to look.
Happy new year everyone! Thank you for making 2009 a great year. If I was a bit more clever, I could do a photo collage like Donnie did, but I'm not, so I won't.
