The latest quilts

Ever since learning how to use the long arm quilting machine at the local quilt shop, we've been trying to get in there once a month to complete some long overdue projects. Seann & I were there again last week and completed two more quilts. It seems like my pile of quilt tops ready for quilting hasn't really gotten any smaller though!

This one is for my friend Hajer who is due to have her first baby on January 28th. We had a great baby shower for her on Saturday that was tons of fun. I don't remember what collection these fabrics are from. I bought the fabric years ago. Interspersed throughout the quilt are some squares of yellow and green Minkee fabric, which is super soft and cuddly.

I used the Minkee on the back too. We quilted it with a pattern of clovers and hearts. I put on a pieced binding used leftover strips of fabric. The quilt is fairly small but should be good for tummy time and for using in the stroller or car seat. I can't wait to meet Hajer's baby girl!

This quilt is made with fabrics from the Rocket Scientist collection by In the Beginning fabrics. One day when we were shopping for some batting, these fabrics caught our attention and we just had to get them. It was a super simple quilt to make with fat quarters cut sort of randomly and rearranged in a neat pattern.

I used flannel on the back so it is a nice warm quilt for the winter. I just love it! We did a random quilting pattern on this one with lots of swirls and spirals meant to be "galaxies." Seann did most of the quilting on this one so it is definitely time for me to catch up on the next one!
