Happy Anniversary

Six years ago today I bought my very first brand-spanking new car all by myself. It was a very grown up moment. My beloved Jeep had decided to die on my (in unpredictable ways--like on the freeway at 10:00 at night). With no fix easily available I realized I needed a new car. One that I could afford. One that I liked. One that had a trunk.

I really wanted a VW Passat but those are pricey and definitely out of my range. I started looking around, test driving cars and dealing with car salesmen. Ugh. In the meantime I was renting a car--a Ford Focus. I found it a bit annoying--loud turn signal, awkward angle on the ignition, radio volume out of whack. But it was peppy. It got up to speed much more quickly than anything else I was driving. And the view out the windows wasn't obstructed like it was in some other cars. After a very expensive week of renting it, I decided I actually rather liked the Focus and could probably get used to the little things.

So off I went in search of a Focus. I ended up with a stick shift (cheaper and it made me feel cool--just being honest here). It had the "sport" package which I didn't really care about but it was what they had for me to take right then. It also had a fancy audio system (for the time). I was sold.

So, happy anniversary Focus.

It's at least a two torso trunk! After having no trunk, the hugeness of the trunk was a big plus.
