Sally was right...

During the writer's strike, our TiVo list shrank unbelievably. I was beginning to wonder if Seann was right and maybe we should just get rid of the TV altogether.

Then I woke up and realized I'd be lost without finding out if Starbuck really was a Cylon or not.

Anyway, in an attempt to find something worth watching, Seann flipped through the channels on the advice of Sally looking for this:

(image shamelessly stolen from Sally's blog)

Top Gear on BBC America. And it is so totally worth it. Imagine Mythbusters + Monty Python + American Chopper + Pimp My Ride and you kind of sort of have an idea of what to expect. These guys are really funny and the things they do to cars just cracks me up. They also have a segment where they bring famous people on the show for an interview and also have them drive a crappy car around a racetrack. I'm not sure anything is funnier than Helen Mirren in a racing helmet trying to race around a track--the things that come out of her mouth! (actually, to be fair, nothing super juicy came out of her mouth. James Blunt on the other hand...)

So Sally was right and you really ought to be watching this. It's fabulous.

Racy

One of my dearest friends, Mary Jane, is getting married next month. So on Saturday we decided to shower her with. . .racy underwear! That's right folks, we had a lingerie shower. It had a "Happy Hour" flair to it and we all wore deliciously pink feather boas. Did I mention that Mary Jane really doesn't like pink? A great time was had by all (I hope) and MJ and Chris will have lots of fun writing the thank you cards (wink, wink). Parties such as this don't typically lend themselves to postable photos, but Mary Jane's wonderful friend Jen captured this great shot of all of us:

So thank you to everyone who came, we had a great time and I can't wait to see you all at the wedding!

Success!

Just a quick post to share the exciting news. I was accepted into the graduate teaching program and am all set to start in July. Yay! I was going to do a fancier post with a really artistic shot of my acceptance letter, but, well, I'm not all that fancy or artistic. And I didn't take a picture of my letter. I'm excited to meet everyone else in my cohort and to get back to class. I love going to school. I'm such a geek.

I was also just promoted at work and begin training on Monday. I am very excited to take on the new challenges and a little (lot) less excited about the changes to my schedule that come along with it. I've cherry picked opening shifts since December but now I'll have to open and close and everything in between. But like I said, the new job comes with all kinds of new opportunities so I'll just have to focus on that, right?
